Frequently Asked Questions
How
many members are in Masterpiece? We normally perform as a
seven-piece group that includes guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, saxophone, trumpet,
and vocalist. For special performances we can add
Latin percussion. For smaller affairs, we can perform as a four, five,
or six piece band.
What music styles do you play? We play
everything from standards and big band up to today's top 40 hits. We
specialize in dance music and are happy to take your special requests.
What events are you available for? We perform at
conventions, bar/bat mitzvahs, weddings, theme parties and outdoor
concerts. We can customize our show to meet your needs.
How do you control the volume?
We have a high-powered "state of the art" sound system for superb sound
with volume levels adjusted to YOUR preference. Over the years we have
noticed that the proper volume is often a concern and we make that one of
our priorities. Everyone has experienced a party that was unsuccessful because the band was "too loud". We
moderate our balanced sound to meet your expectations.
What are the advantages of using
a live band? Live music creates energy and excitement, which simply
cannot be captured by recorded music. We will create a mood to get the
crowd dancing without having to pull your guests out of their seats.
Will you learn a special request? We are happy to
accommodate one (or two) but you must provide us with a tape or CD no later than six weeks prior to
the date of your party.
How does the band dress for a wedding
reception? The gentlemen in the band wear tuxes and our female
vocalist wears formal evening attire. We have tried it the other way and
it is very uncomfortable for everyone.
Can you provide music for
the ceremony and/or cocktail hour? We can provide music for any
aspect of your affair. We can provide Master of Ceremonies services to
make sure that your party stays on schedule.
Is it possible to view the band?
We play regularly at local clubs and arrangements can usually be made to
come to a function to view the band. Each facility has its
own guidelines, however, so please call to make arrangements in advance.
